Colour correction and grading Mini-Course
Does round triping to V-log decrease image quality?
SUMMARY:
It doesn't matter is you footage is 8bit or 10bit to start of with as long as you work in 16bit (or more) mode in your software of choice. Premiere Pro, Resolve, FCPX and After effects (default 8bit) all can work in 16 bit and will as default. So there is no quality loss round tripping to V-log and back.
If you original footage has banding, it can become visible in correcting/grading, but the method will no introduce any banding.
